MOTION DESIGNERS IN THE INDUSTRY POSTER
the brief
Design an informational poster showcasing the career paths of alumni from the Department of Motion Design at Ringling College of Art + Design. This poster aims to inspire current and prospective students by highlighting the diverse opportunities that a Motion Design degree offers. It is displayed across campus, including the 3rd floor of the Larry Thompson Academic Center.

research
It was essential that this poster not only looked good but communicated clearly. Using data from the department, I organized key career paths within the Motion Design industry—employers, job titles, and locations—using Google Sheets. Early on, I narrowed the alumni career paths to six categories: Motion Design Studio, Broadcast, Freelance, Corporate and Technology, Media Production, and Advertising. After sketching several iterations, I developed the current design, which balances data and aesthetics.
process
I explored several iterations through initial sketches before landing the final design. I started with basic sketches while gathering and fact-checking the data. Once I organized the information effectively, I transitioned to Illustrator, using the actual data to drive the design. This streamlined the process, accelerating progress toward the final concept. Since this was my first experience with data design, I learned how critical data organization is to creating a logical and cohesive design.
