research

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, offers 45 acres of bay front sanctuaries in Sarasota, Florida. The Downtown Campus is dedicated to the study and display of epiphytic plants like orchids, bromeliads, and ferns, emphasizing botany, horticulture, and environmental education. Their goal is to connect people with air plants of the world, native nature, and the regional history of Florida.
concept

This concept highlights patterns  and interconnectedness found in nature.  The idea was to emphasize repetition across all elements. Each asset incorporates repetitive rectangular bars, with all assets sheared in the direction of the camera's movement to create a cohesive visual flow. The three environments chosen were:

1. Koi Garden + Bamboo Grove
2. Succulent Garden
3. Welcome Center

design process
In order to develop modules and assets that looked unique, we used design triggers to hone in on ways to make the modules have appeal and a noticeable look. I decided to use rectangular bard and and a angled shear effect. We worked in modules to make sure that all assets look cohesive and consistent.
